But most of the vitamin c that is used in supplements and foods today comes from factories in China. A lot of it is made from genetically modified corn. Yup. GMO corn is the basis for much of the ascorbic acid, which is traditionally called vitamin C. The way I know this is because we spent months trying to find a non-GMO source of vitamin C – and our search took us all across the world.
